В тексте упоминается Джой Адамсон (фильм Born free) - провозвестник колониального энвайронментализма. В 1970-х многие пускали слезу, просматривая тот фильм. Но даже Песков косвенно отмечал в своем сборнике "Птицы на проводах", что Джой конфликтное и неприятное существо. Не удержался. А ведь он был с ней в одной партии.

DDT, acid rain, ozone hole, alar on apples, mad cow disease, Y2K, global cooling, demographic bomb, mass starvation, peak oil and on and on. When is the last time the end-of-days warnings came to pass?
 
It is simply fear mongering to raise money. I think every discussion of global warming or any other end of the world hysteria should begin by revisiting all these warnings and asking "when is the last time these people were right?"

Since the answer will be rarely, if ever, why should we believe them now. Great skepticism is warranted.
